The "Wall Street's Rocky Week" video on CNN's website does a good job of analyzing what triggered the events of last Thursday. Hopefully this helps to provide a better understanding of what happened.

This was a good video for explanation! I understand why now, but I guess I'm shocked at what happened in just one day - it was the biggest point loss ever (including Black Tuesday, and the end of October in 2007) AND it happened when we think our economy is beginning to stabilize...
ReplyDeleteI think what we need to learn from this week is "stabilize" is a really relative word when it comes to the stock market. Beyond that, we must look into how one trader, with such a seemingly small mistake, could alter the entire course of the NYSE and how detrimental that could be to our economy at large.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this video does a great job clarifying the "glitch" events of last Thursday. More importantly, I feel that it shows the average investor/ citizen how important the financial actions of other countries (e.g., Greece) are to the US economy and consumer/ investor confidence.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great video that further explained what happened with the plummet of the NYSE. I agree with Ashley that it does a good job to show how many other factors have such an influence into consumer confidence and the stock market itself. Hopefully we won't have too many more glitches.
