This is really funny. This cartoon summarizes the pages we read last week.
ReplyDeleteYeah, literally every cartoon directly stems from the 13 Bankers book. There was one where it showed a pile of banks "too big to fail", a statement we've heard countless times, but it was the opposite that caught my attention: "too small to succeed". And it made me think, what if the bailout money instead went to those banks that were smaller, to make sure they succeed. The large banks are know they'll be bailed out if they need it so the whole moral hazard issue arises. I just wonder how different the situation would be if it were the other way around, giving money to smaller banks to make sure they stayed afloat.
ReplyDeleteI disagree, I don't find this funny. I find it heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteThese cartoons are pretty good but like Tommy said pretty disheartening as well. The cartoon with the bank and regulator that says "to big to fail" "to small to succeed" really stood out. It really is everything we have been reading in our 13 Bankers book, banks should not be to big to fail, if they are then they hold all the leverage and power.
ReplyDeleteThis cartoon is tragically funny. I appreciate the size differences between the government and wall street. This really exemplifies the idea that big banks on wall street make up 95% of our GDP and our government is powerless to stand up to the "big bully".
ReplyDeletefunny yet sad indeed. It will be scary thinking that when we are older kids will be reading about this in their history books. I wonder in what light the big banks will be shown and whether there will be any ethical concern and lesson for the kids...
