There Might be hope

Check out this article posted minutes ago.

It goes on to explain that the government has made another short term stop gap measure to last us until next week. It also has a great video halfway down the page entitled Stupid Shutdown Banter. I personally love the golden colored suit woman who says Congress shouldn't be paid. Amen! I believe in that logic. :) The video is also great for its hokey background music.

  1. This was a very interesting article. Although another short-term bill is not what the government needs at the moment, it is true that it is a much better alternative to the government completely shutting down. It will be interesting to see what their final conclusion for the long term will be. Hopefully the government just isn't using the short term solution to put off dealing with this problem until later.

  2. Although it would bring a lot more drama and even more attention to this issue, at the end of the day I think it is best that government did not have to shut down. I'm afriad that so much of government focus however is on the short term due to nearly being forced to shut down, that not enough focus is on the long run. I believe an in-depth long term plan needs to be addressed now! I hate how everything in government is so easily delayed time and time again; it seems as if people dealing with politics can never reach an agreement unless absolutely forced to...

  3. What irks me the most, though, is that even though soldiers and various other government workers were at risk of losing pay, the paychecks were approved to come in for congressmen...ridiculous.

On another note, I was also very troubled that these government workers were essentially used as pawns. There was no reason that their wages and salaries could not have been secured by policymakers. Yet, in this case, President Obama and the Democrat coalition used this as a leverage point against the Republicans. As a Democrat, this disgusted me.
