Goldman Sucks

Here is an interesting video that describes the power of Goldman Sachs in America. I thought it was particularly relevant considering the recent hearings this week.

  1. This was a great video that fits in perfectly with 13 Bankers! I especially liked the quote, "organized greed always wins out over unorganized democracy".

Additionally, I thought that it was interesting how they showed both democratic and republican ties to Goldman Sachs. I was fascinated by how many former Goldman employees are embedded in our government. Clearly this is not strictly a single party issue. It is an issue of the government and big banks working together and against the interests of both the general public and the global economy.

  2. I was also surprised at the role of past employees in the government. If you think about it, the money that they are contributing to campaigns should be enough of a tie (too much if you ask me) and now they have insiders working for them too! Breaking them up with never happen...and it probably should

  3. I totally agree with what Ashley and Kelsey have said but there is one thing, mentioned in the video, that we must not understate: these guys/girls are really really smart! Beating them (changing the game) is not going to be easy because of that singular fact.

  4. I really liked this video it was a good overview of Goldman during the financial crisis. I didnt realize how deep Goldman's relationships ran in the financial industry. From government positions to other bank executives they are like the video said "everywhere". I agree with Tommy as well breaking or regulating a firm like this will be very difficult considering the power they have and the depth of support they have throughout the financial system, along with the fact that these are very intelligent individuals.

  5. This is a really great video that shows how much power Goldman is. Its shocking to see how many people working for the government worked for Goldman, which begs the question of why are so many Goldman employers ending up in government positions? I agree with Tommy in that it will not be easy and they will find a way to fight this to the end.
