While obviously not an actual reporter, I feel that Jon Stewart really speaks to the little guy allows for people to vent about all the issues that are going on by making light of such things like the financial crisis. When looking at the news and seeing that these banks have done so well while one's own industry is still sagging, it's always nice to see someone who is more than willing to go on national television and take a couple shots at the bank and the bailout process.
Here's an older video focused on Goldman Sachs http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-july-16-2009/pyramid-economy
I agree with Jim. The role Stewart plays is a valuable one in our media/political system. He explains the issues to us and it is not afraid to share our feelings on those emotions. He has often called himself the modern "court jester."
This is a very funny video that shows at points why America is very frustrated with the banks and their operations. He also points out that their greed was a factor in causing the crisis but yet they still give themselves huge bonuses, after they were bailed out? I think it is pretty ironic. I also thought the comparison of banks to professional athletes and movie stars made by the board of Goldman Sachs was pretty outrageous.
I also agree with Jim. Jon Stewart's political commentary is often thought of us catering to a young liberal audience. However, he does not hesitate to point out the stupidity and stubborness that plagues our government as a whole. If it were not for him much of America would be un-aware of such accounts of greed and backwards thinking that's poked fun of in this clip.
